HOW TO DECANT PORT THE RIGHT WAY

Unlike many red wines, Tawny Ports and other full bodied, fruit-flavored Ports do not require decanting. Sediments have been removed in the winemaking process because they're aged in cask or wooden vats prior to bottling. But, vintage ports are a different story. They are settled in wood for 2 years before they are bottled, so decanting is required before serving. Decant the right way by using a clean decanter and wipe off any dust prior to removing the cork slowly. Then, you can pour your port and enjoy from the decanter.
